Skills Competition

Skills Competition Format

Note: Coaches will nominate a total of 3 skaters and one goalie from their team to participate in Skills Competition Events; No other players are allowed in the ice.

Fastest Skater: One player from each team competes in this event. Skater will start on goal line at one end; skate around net at far end and race to the center line (3/4 rink). Skater with fastest time will win.

Shooting Accuracy: One player from each team competes in this event. Shooter will be in slot with 2 fellow players located on either side of net below goal line. Fellow players will feed Shooter 5 passes each (alternating) for a total of ten pucks. Shooter will try to hit as many targets as possible – targets at each corner. Shooter who hits most targets with 10 pucks or hits all 4 targets with least amount of pucks (before reaching 10) wins. Ties will be decided by a 4-puck competition in same manner.

Goalie Showdown: One Goalie from each team competes in this event. Each goalie will face five consecutive skaters from opposing teams (goalie cannot face skater from his same team). Skaters will start at center ice and skate, deke, score. Goalie with least amount of goals wins. Tie will be decided via sudden death.

Puckhandling Relay : Three Players from each team compete in this relay event. Skaters will start at one end of rink with puck, skate through a series of cones and return back down the ice to pass the puck once across the Blue Line to the next player in line. Next player will do the same and this process is repeated until all three skaters go through the course. Team whose 3rd player returns and crosses the Blue line with control of the puck first wins.

Best "Deke" (time permitting): One Player from each team competes in this event. Each player will get two attempts to Deke a goalie and score (goalies cannot face skater from his same team). Skaters will start at center ice and skate, deke, score. Points will be awarded by a panel of four coaches / tournament officials on a scale of 1 to 5 for execution and originality. Player must score on the goalie to be awarded points. If a player scores twice, only the highest single point total will be used. Player with highest point total wins.

WINNERS IN EACH CATEGORY WILL RECEIVE AWARD CERTIFICATE
