GENERAL RULES & INFORMATION
â— All games are played under USA Hockey rules unless otherwise noted.
â— A Trainer / EMT will be available for all games. The tournament will assume no liability for personal injury to participants or spectators during the event.
â— A maximum of 20 players may be rostered and dressed for any team. No Player may be rostered on more than one team per age level.
â— If a parent / guardian are not present at the tournament, a written consent must be provided for medical care authorization.
â— All players must adhere to their local governing body’s rules regarding equipment. Mouth guards are required as specified by USA Hockey.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT & ISSUES
â— Tournament scoring will consist of two (2) points for a win; one (1) point for a tie; and zero (0) points for a loss.
â— Teams designated as HOME will wear DARK jerseys (or choice- notify opposing team).
â— Tag up Off-Sides rule in effect. Checking & slapshots allowed at all Boys levels except 1997 (Spring Classic only) and 1998.
â— Games will consist of three (3) 15-minute, stop time periods. A six goal lead at any time results in running time until the lead falls to less than six goals. Ice will be resurfaced every two periods.
â— All games will be completed in the set amount of time allowed on the schedule. If time becomes an issue, running time may be instituted and/or ice resurfacing will be skipped within reasonable terms.
â— Each team will be permitted one (1) 45 second timeout per game.
â— Teams must be ready to play 30 minutes prior to the scheduled game time. Games may start earlier when time permits.
PENALTY ENFORCEMENT
â— Minor – 2 minutes â— Major – 5 minutes â— Misconduct – 10 minutes
â— Fighting will result in an automatic game misconduct. The player will be removed from the game and will serve an additional one (1) game suspension.
â— Any penalty deemed serious with intent to injure will result in a 5-minute Major and a tournament disqualification for the offending player.
â— Any player receiving three (3) penalties will be be removed from the remainder of the game. A player from the offending player’s team will be required to serve the third penalty. Any major or checking from behind will count as two penalties.
TIE BREAKING PROCEDURES
â— There will be no overtime in Pool Play, Round Robin Play, or Consolation Games.
â— Teams will not be credited with more than a seven (7) goal differential per game.
â— Tie breaking procedures for teams tied will be (in order):
1) Head to Head Competition
2) Total Goal Differential (< 7 goals per game)
3) Total Goals Allowed
4) Total Goals Scored
5) Least Penalty Minutes
6) Coin Toss
â— In a case where a tie involves more than two teams, head-to-head tie breaker will not be used. The tie-breaking procedure, beginning with goal differential, will be used in succession until the position for the first team has been determined. The remaining tied teams will continue the tie-breaking procedure with the next procedure listed.
â— For Semifinal, 3rd Place, and Championship games that are tied after regulation, overtime will consist of a 2-minute rest period, followed by a single 5-minute (running) 4-on-4 overtime period. If the game remains tied, a 5-man shoot-out will occur; if still tied a Sudden-death shoot-out will occur, using all players, until a winner is determined.
