St Croix Hockey

When starting a new expansion team one of the most difficult tasks is getting not one but two goalies that not only are good but that can work and support each other.  The Brand New St. Croix Expansion Team the 95 AAA SilverTips have this.  Ernie Mantell and Cody Dornbusch. 

     When starting out at the beginning of the season Head Coach Scott Martain focused on the goalie issue. After meeting the Mom's and talking to both Goalies, not only do they know each other very well, they have logged a season or two in the Saint Paul, Como Hockey Association together.  It could not be a better arrangement.  They are very supportive of each other, and when you have a tandem like that, It causes a positive environment for growth and development.  Both Ernie Mantell and Cody Dornbusch are different goalies with different styles and Strenghtens. One thing that they are exactly alike is that they work very hard on the ice.  This is a good thing because Assistant Coach Tyler Martain has a rough practice schedule ahead of them. Being a goalie himself he knows exactly what he can do to make them better.  With the unified mission of the SilverTips coaching staff, they are focused on what St. Croix Hockey is all about.  Development, Development, Development.  With attitudes that Cody and Ernie Display,  not only is this going to make the 2008 easier. It is going to make it fun!

    After a couple of practices there was a simularities with one of the goalies,  Cody Dornbusch.  Both Assistant Coach Tyler Martain and  goalie, Cody  played hockey for Saint Paul,Westside/Westend Hockey Association.  The SilverTips Head Coach, also started his Coaching on the Westside as well.  There was alot of good memories from the mid 1990's to 99 and it was great. In someway it's great  to keep the Westside alive in God's Greatest sports, Hockey. 

It has not been perfect starting out this 2008 AAA season.  Everyone knew this in advance, and everyone has been working hard getting things together.  After a hard practice it felt great because already there has been alot of progress.  After a great practice Head Coach Scott approached Ernie and stated: " Hey Ernie whose starting the first game"  immediately Ernie replied " Cody is"  So with that said.  The rest of the team along with the 95 SilverTip goalies are looking forward to the first game of the season . Sunday Evening April 13th at 6:40 P.M.  At the SilverTips Home Barn,  St. Paul's Highland Arena. Start the 2008 AAA season.  Here We Go.  Hockey, Hockey, Hockey.  I love it, I love it !
